Sub: Bi-monthly meeting with the PMG,
CCR - items to be taken up – Reg.

The following items
are proposed to be taken up for
discussions with the PMG, CCR during the ensuing bi-monthly meeting. The same may kindly be entertained.
1. Request
for reducing of closing hours of speed
post counters from 21.00 hrs to 19.00
hrs at Chennai City Region, since
practically the same staff are utilized in the shortage scenario, for the extension counters and their work
hours exceeds 8 hrs norms on daily basis. Beyond that ,
there is only poor traffic in the closing hours, which leads loss to the
Department on staffing , electricity bill, A/C., generator, maintenance etc.
2.Dequarterisastion of
Tiruvottiyur HSG I S.O. since there
is no required area as per the norms and also non availability of
required amenities for the quarters portion and the officials in lower rank now posted as HSG I
postmaster at Tiruvottiyur are affected with loss of HRA. Immediate
action requested.
3. There are overall
problems of Generators, UPS, maintenance
of computer peripherals etc. throughout
CCR which requires immediate
attention in the power cut scenario affecting public services. Many of the
computers last its life
period and require replacements.
For eg.
1. Failure of UPS at Ambattur
HPO – case pending for more than a year.
2. Repairs to addl. Generators ,
provided to meet out the short supply, at
Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur HPOs- pending for long.
3. Requirement of UPS and
Generator power line to BPC, Tambaram
HPO.
4. Many computers
in Tiruvallikeni, T.Nagar HO,
Royapettah are last its life period.
5. Systems should
be replaced with new ones or upgraded
replacing with LCD or TFT flat monitors like Central Region.
