CIRCLE UNION ADDRESSED PMG, CCR ON LATE NIGHT DETENTION OF OFFICIALS WORKING IN SB BRANCHES BECAUSE OF EOD PROBLEMS

No. P3/Genl.                                                                       dt. 16.09.2015

To
The Postmaster General,
Chennai City Region,
Chennai 600 002.

Respected Sir,

Sub: Detention of officials working in SB Branches at late nights because of
                           EOD problem-Reg.
Ref: Various references made on this subject since the introduction of CBS.                                                             ….
It is reported from each and every quarter that there is recurring problem in giving EOD and the officials, including women employees working in SB Branches are asked to wait till late nights even up to 09.00 pm on daily basis. This occurred in recent days also viz on 3.9.2015, 12.9.2015 and on 15.9.2015 .

This is on one hand and all the offices are ordered for migration in a lightning speed so as to incorporate the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, on the other hand. The CPC is not able to give solution to this problem and the help desk is not responding.  But the CPC is emphasizing the staff to remain in the office and to perform the EOD .  Something we feel this, because of the unmindful migration in larger scale, without giving a solution for giving EOD at the closing hour.

This affects the entire staff, their mental balance and creates family problems and social problems, because to leave the office by women employees at late nights,  in an unsafe condition. This is not the first occasion but a prolonged problem since the day of introduction of CBS, without giving a solution and with unmindful aggressive further migrations. We feel, it is the combined responsibility of both the administration and the service unions to ensure the safety and security of the women employees and no untoward incident should be allowed to happen as in case of Jyoti Singh Pandey of  New Delhi  . It is to be remembered here that one of the convict  Mukesh singh interviewed to the BBC that, women who go out at late night had only themselves to blame if they attracted the attention of molesters. Such things should not be allowed to be repeated in the Society again.

Hence we request the PMG, CCR to look into the matter seriously and to evolve a solution immediately so as to relieve the officials working in SB branches in time and to reach their home  at least not beyond 07.00 pm.

Expecting your immediate action and a line in reply.

With regards,

(J. RAMAMURTHY)
CIRCLE SECRETARY.
